        Lesson Plans
We now have 24 lessons, which are an updated version (pre-publication) of Ruhi Institute Book 3
Now Called Children's Classes Grade 1, each of the lessons is structured around the development of a spiritual quality,
and many of the 15 lessons from the initial edition of Book 3 have remained. No substantial changes are expected
to be made to the units concerned with training Baha'i Children's Class Teachers.
The 24 Lessons and also Grade 2 and Grade 3 Lessons can be purchased from B.D.S.

As the new edition of Book 3 will not be available in published form until later in the year,
teachers should continue referring to their original Book 3 for:   To the Collaborators,
Principles of Baha'i Education and Conducting Classes for Children

Here you will find all the colouring-in images with quotes for the New Grade 1.  On each A4 sheet there is 2 pictures.
It has been found that an A4 size colouring often takes longer than what we had time for, hence has halved time &
your have less photo copies to do.

Quotation Songs - Download free MP3s
Larry Magee has created a song for each quotation within the 24 lessons of Book 3 Grade 1.
These can be  downloaded for free at    http://www.losNiceGuys.com    Click on the Ruhi Book 3 songs.
The songs make learning the quotations easy and fun.  They include activities for the children to do while singing.

Creating a Sacred Space
We always start our class with spreading out a special small cloth (gold coloured) with some special trinkets that the children love to decorate, and a few tea light candles that we light just before prayers.  The children know that while the candles are going we sit quietly and reverently and listen to prayers and quotes on cards that are distributed beforehand.  This is a very formal way to signal the start of class.  Even very young and new children can understand and sit quietly for prayers.  It is good for us as we always start with some food at 3:30 after school and everyone is a bit hyped up after food.   At the close of prayers everyone blows out the candles that are carefully collected and the children put away the rest of the decorations and cloth.  Is is very simple but they love it!         Shared by Sara Brill

Closing with a Virtues dip
At the close of class we gather and have a virtues affirmation lucky dip.  It is always popular and
a nice way to include virtues and sit quietly while parents arrive.     Shared by Sara Brill

this includes notes in regard - To the Collaborators and the Units themselves.

                      Teaching Children's Classes Grade 2
       Version 2.1.1.PP 2012    A branch course of Book 3  (Ages 6  -  7 years)

As currently conceived, our book for training teachers to conduct classes for children in the

second year of a program for their spiritual education, generally aged six or seven, will consist of two units.

The first, entitled “Reflecting on Experience”, is intended to provide teachers with an opportunity to

analyze the insights they gained in teaching children in Grade 1.

The second unit, “Lessons for Children’s Classes Grade 2”, contains twenty-one lessons,

divided into seven sets. Each set treats some aspect of the habits and patterns of conduct that are a

manifestation of the inner qualities addressed in the first year of the program.

All seven sets, the themes of which are listed below, include three lessons.

                        1. Maintaining a prayerful attitude

                        2. Adhering to the laws of God

                        3. Seeking knowledge

                        4. Living in harmony with others

                        5. Being a good friend

                        6. Devoting oneí’s life to service

                        7. Engaging in consultation

       Lessons
Robyn O'Conor put this together. I did this for my own use so feel free to adapt/change it anyway that suits you
and the way you work.   The blank spaces are for me to jot down materials/ideas I want to take to the class.
I found it useful to have an overview of the lessons so I could quickly see where we had come from and where we were
      going.

24 lessons are offered with the aim of introducing to the children the lives and teachings of the Manifestations of God.  In this sense, these lessons are intended to build on those in Grade 2 by establishing a connection in the minds of the children between the knowledge of God acquired through His Manifestations and the habits

of praiseworthy conduct they are striving to develop.  In a few months time, material for training teachers of this grade will released in pre-publication format.

Stories from the Dawn Breakers

Here are six stories from the Dawn-Breakers narrated by Hand of the Cause William Sears.

Mr Sears is a wonderful story teller.  He visited Persia and includes this in his narration.
If I were tutoring a Book 3 or 4, I would also use these stories to illustrate the art of good story telling.

      The six stories are:
